As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and for Ford and its iconic Glass House HQ, this is the case after creating 69 years of history.
The old building located in Michigan is set to be vacated by staff in the first half of 2026.
But the demolition is actually good news for Ford, as the new facility they’re moving to is set to be even more impressive.
Not only will the manufacturer’s new home be better, but it will be twice as big as the old one.

It’s the end of an era for the iconic Ford Glass House
World-renowned car brand Ford is set to say goodbye to its beloved HQ after nearly seven decades at the Michigan site.
The Glass House first opened back in 1956 and was once upon a time the ‘nation’s largest office building occupied by a single company’.
But the new HQ will be even bigger and will be ready to move into before the end of 2027.

As for the Glass House, it is time to say goodbye for good after the brand moves out at the start of 2026.
“Afterward, it will be sustainably decommissioned and ultimately demolished over the course of roughly 18 months so that the site can be repurposed as an asset to our local community,” explained the car giant itself when talking about the old building.
It will still be owned by Ford and will serve Michigan for ‘many years to come’, so the story isn’t over just yet, and there is still life to be lived inside the iconic Glass House.
So where will Ford’s new facility be?

The new HQ will be at 20901 Oakwood Blvd and is set to be every gearhead’s dream workspace.
It will sit on the same site as the former Ford Product Development Center that first opened in the 50s and will have six design studios, a design showroom, wellness rooms, and mothers’ rooms.
Also thrown in is a 160,000 sq ft food hall, as well as green space for employees to enjoy as they get used to life in the new building.
Ford has been dominating the car world for over 100 years
When it comes to car history, Ford is up there with one of the oldest brands in the game after it was established in 1903 and has proven to be favored by many thanks to its fleet of vehicles.
From EVs to pickup trucks and the Mustang, there aren’t many avenues that the brand hasn’t explored when releasing new cars.
The Mustang is one of Ford’s most notable vehicles, with the first-ever Ford Mustang recently making its way back to the company after the owner accepted an incredible deal after he was offered several amounts.
The brand hasn’t let the trend of drivers shifting from gas-powered cars to EVs stop the Mustang hype either.
In fact, the Mustang Mach-E has outsold the gas-powered Mustang with 7,226 Mach-Es compared to 3,235 ICE Mustangs.
It’s all eyes on Ford and the new HQ to release more models to join its fleet.
