In a complete cleanout of some of his most prized possessions, Formula 1 legend Bernie Ecclestone has sold his $22,000,000 superyacht and listed a second boat for sale.

Best known for piloting the Ferrari team for 30 years as CEO, British motorsport legend Bernie Ecclestone appears to be on a purge of assets he has no need for anymore.

Just recently, he parted ways with some of the finest car collections of all time.

Now, he’s putting millions of dollars’ worth of boats up for sale, including his iconic Petara superyacht.

Bernie Ecclestone sells $22M Petara Superyacht

Much like many other Formula 1 stars, Ecclestone invested in a getaway vehicle like no other.

His Petara superyacht, built in 2005 by Turquoise Yachts, is a 190-foot behemoth, custom-made to his own liking.

Named after a combination of his daughter’s names (Petra and Tamara), the Petara superyacht has been in his care for approximately 20 years.

However, Ecclestone and his wife have revealed that the boat has been sold, after the couple barely even used it.

Speaking to Bild, Bernie Ecclestone said, “We just sold it.”

His wife, Fabiana, added, “‘We only used it eight days in a year. We don’t need such a big yacht for that.”

His first yacht, Va Bene, was sold to Eric Clapton for around $12 million back in 2005, while the third boat in his ownership, Force Blue, is reportedly also on the auction block.

He wouldn’t be the first Formula 1 icon to sell their yacht either, as Aston Martin boss Lawrence Stroll previously off-handed his own boat to Ferrari mogul Michael Latifi, as he awaits the order of his new $200M beast of the seas.

A garage clear out for the ages.

The Petara superyacht sale comes in the wake of his separation from his legendary Formula 1 car collection.

With $650 million worth of F1 cars, including rides from Niki Lauda and Michael Schumacher, he sold the entire fleet.

The iconic collection was then scooped up by the heir to the Red Bull empire, and the world’s youngest billionaire, Mark Mateschitz.

It’s not sure who received the Petara superyacht, though.
