Did you know that there’s a free Bluetooth upgrade you can now get if you have an Android phone from most the popular tech companies?

Google announced that there’s a new free Bluetooth upgrade rolling out to many different devices, like Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, and some Sony headphones.

The upgrade is called Low Energy (LE) Audio, which is more efficient,m and has better battery life, while still giving you the best quality sound.

Originally developed for hearing aid technology, LE Audio uses a different radio mode than ‘Bluetooth Classic Audio’.

There’s a new free Bluetooth upgrade for your Android phone

Android tech users rejoice! There’s a new free Bluetooth upgrade just for you that’ll be coming to your phones and headphones soon.

Earlier this month, Google announced that it’ll be rolling out the new upgrade for all sorts of gadgets like Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, and some Sony headphones.

Low Energy (LE) Audio was originally developed for hearing aids, but now it’s expanding to regular headphones and earbuds.

The LE Audio system comes with Auracast broadcast audio, which means that you can broadcast one source to multiple receivers. If you’re in a public space like a gym or a waiting room, you can tap into the public audio.

What LE Audio can do

With Auracast and LE Bluetooth Audio, you and your friend can both wear headphones and listen to the same song or video in sync.

This Auracasting can be used for self-guided audio tours, hearing assistance setups, and using public sound systems.

Apparently, this is more efficient, and while it can stream to more devices, it is also meant to help preserve battery life.

Lots of people remember those iconic – and regularly bad – headphone splitters, and Auracast feels very similar to that.

It’s not clear when this rollout will happen, and it might take time based on the manufacturer or the region your device will be working in, but this is a very exciting Android update.
