This futuristic desert mansion out in California runs completely off-grid and would cost you a cool $15,000,000.

Sitting at the edge of the desert town of Yucca Valley, this 160 acre property contains four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a whole lot of natural lighting.

Dubbed ‘Saturn Haus’ when it was completed in 2017, this desert mansion used to belong to writer Wendy Wacker, who also had a hand in designing it.

She wanted a remote location, and with this mansion, she certainly got it.

This off-grid desert mansion has a lot to offer

When Wacker uprooted from her native Chicago and headed over to Southern California in the 1990s, she initially settled in Palm Springs.

But 15 years later, she wanted something different – a place that was out of the way, but not too far away from civilization.

Ultimately, she decided on a 160-acre plot of flat land that she purchased for a mere $85,000.

It was on the outskirts of Yucca Valley near Joshua Tree National Park – home to the famous invisible house – and she was in awe of the place.

“The beauty up here is so otherworldly,” she told the Wall Street Journal.

“The way the sky looks, the clouds seem so low, it’s almost as if you can reach them.”

Fast froward a few years and $7 million, Saturn Haus had been completed.

This ‘stripped back, solar-powered sanctuary’ was exactly what it said on the tin.

It’s powered by a wind turbine, alongside an array of solar photovoltaic panels and battery storage packs.

Thanks to thermal technology, the smooth concrete floor is heated and the 75-foot lap pool is kept a constant temperature all year round, Robb Report reported.

A perfect blend of concrete, steel, and glass, this property has peace and sustainability at its core.

Technically, this house is multiple parts, all connected by a covered walkway.

Across these four parts, you’ll find four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a writers studio, a music studio, a wellness suite, a single-car garage, and a multi-vehicle carport.

That last part also comes with a roof terrace, which would be incredible for star gazing.

It could also be used for sunbathing purposes, but you better load up on the sun screen.

This is in the middle of the desert after all.

This house feels like a house of the future, and we love it for that reason.

It’s always fun seeing mansions that deviate from the well-trodden path.

The ‘invisible house’ in the California desert certainly fits the bill on that front.

How about the supercar themed mansion that had a Red Bull F1 car sitting right in the living room?

And we have to give a shout-out to the mansion out in Michigan that comes with its very own drive-thru car wash.
