In one of the most extensive tech tests we’ve seen, one gadget expert tested hundreds of wires to find the best USB-C chargers on the market, and we’re unpicking the best bits.
We all know the pain of plugging your phone in, leaving it for 20 minutes before heading out, and then coming back to one percent battery.
You may have even had to tilt your charger at the right angle just for a connection to be established.
It’s a pain we’re familiar with, but one gadget guru is going above and beyond to show us exactly how not to leave your battery fate up to the gods.

What makes a ‘good’ charger?
Nowadays, charging rates are a brand-new obsession, as everyone buzzes over the fastest way to plug in EVs.
But when it comes to phone chargers, those decade-old cables in the back drawer simply aren’t cutting the mustard anymore.
So, how do you get the most performance out of a charger that your phone can handle?
Well, tech whizz Project Farm has undertaken one of the most extensive tests yet, evaluating charging rates, fire safety, and wall outlet grip.

Combined, these three components are what he defines as the most important, especially in an on-the-day test where durability and reliability are hard to gauge.
So, with hours of plugging in and out, testing rates and temperatures, and calculating the scores, here’s what he found to be the best USB-C charger.
The best USB-C chargers on the market
The YouTuber categorized his tests into three categories depending on power output (sub-50W, 50W-99W, and over 100W) and used stress tests by plugging into every available port.
In total, 18 chargers were tested, varying from $9 to $120.
On the smaller side of things, the Anker 20W turned out to be the best value for money, holding a higher median charging rate than most others under 50W, while being the best for heat resistance and grip. Its a budget choice for $25, but excelled in every area.
“Starting with the under 65W category, the Anker 20 charger came out on top with the best average finish of 1.4. If you’re looking for a 20W charger, it would definitely be my choice,” he said.
On the wider and bulker choices, best for supporting multiple appliances at once, the best USB-C chargers were the UGREEN 65W and Top Padre 140W, both being incredibly efficient and safe.

The Top Padre 140W charger was the most powerful and only costs $35, beating alternatives nearly five times more expensive.
However, there was an honorable mention for the Anker 150W.
“If you’re looking for a more compact charger, I would definitely go with the Anker 150. It’s a great charger and it performed well in every category,” he added.
