An eagle-eyed gamer believes he’s discovered the official release date for Grand Theft Auto VI.

With a long 10 years passing since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, it looks like the wait could nearly be over.

One eager player found himself trawling through official Microsoft documents and now thinks he found what he was looking for.

He’s since taken to Reddit to share the juicy info.

“In Microsoft’s response to the CMA… there is a section meant to highlight games in the shooter category from other publishers, mostly games of comparable size to Call of Duty,” he said.

“Take-Two is mentioned, having Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2 as games with shooter elements, and it also mentions that the Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to release within 2024.”

The sleuth said he was pretty confident of his findings, too.

“I doubt something so speculative would be mentioned in an official document submitted to the UK Government, so there must be some behind-the-scenes confirmation of the game and its potential release date,” he said.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick also gave players hope that the release date might be close.

During an interview, Zelnick predicted “a great outlook for fiscal 2025”.

“We’ll generate about $8 billion in net bookings,” he said.

With our Sherlock Holmes hat on, we take that as a hint that they’re expecting to make $8 billion with a game that’ll be released between April 2024 and March 2025.

That’s a lot of cash, and there aren’t that many Rockstar and / or Take-Two titles that can generate $8 billion in sales.

The thing is, there’s still so much we don’t know about Grand Theft Auto 6, including the name.

Everyone’s been calling it GTA 6, or GTA VI, because it makes sense and it’s convenient, but the truth is the game doesn’t have an official title yet.
