Rockstar Games’ GTA VI could land $1 billion in pre-orders before it is even released later on this year.

Preliminary work began on Grand Theft Auto VI all the way back in 2014, shortly after the release of GTA V

A decade on, GTA VI has become the most anticipated game in the world.

And with fans keen to ensure they don’t miss out, pre-orders are tipped to skyrocket.

Experts predict GTA VI will make a lot of money

Rockstar Games released the GTA VI trailer back in December 2023 – giving us all our first look at the game.

There’s also been plenty of rumors and speculation flying around – including a list of cars that might pop up in the game and a ‘leaked’ map

Sharing the trailer, Rockstar Games confirmed that GTA VI will be the most immersive game in the franchise yet – set in the state of Leonida, ‘home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond’.

The story is expected to center on the criminal duo Lucia and her male partner – but, for now, Rockstar is opting to keep detailed plot points under wraps.

While we may not know the finer details of GTA VI – we do know that it’s almost certain to be a huge hit with fans of the franchise.

So much so, that analysts from video game research group DFC Intelligence believe it could pull in more than $1 billion in pre-orders.

Not only that, but DFC Intelligence reckons it could make as much as $3.2 billion in its first 12 months.

Impressive stuff, right?

The game is the most eagerly anticipated in the world

Although the figures from DFC Intelligence make for impressive reading, GTA VI publisher Take-Two Interactive told the Financial Times that it won’t be counting its chickens just yet.

“I never claim victory before it occurs,” Take-Two’s chief executive Strauss Zelnick told the publication.

“That said, I think Rockstar Games will once again deliver something absolutely phenomenal… Certainly the anticipation is high.”

It sure is.

That 2023 trailer we mentioned earlier broke the record for most first-day views on a non-music YouTube video within 12 hours with 46 million plays – today the viewings figure stands at more than 225 million.

And last year, it won ‘Most Wanted Game’ at the Golden Joystick Awards and ‘Most Anticipated Game’ at the Game Awards.

So, let’s hope there’s not too long to wait until it lands.
