Gunther Werks F-26 is a Porsche 911 restomod with incredible power that blows past a Bugatti Veyron and even what its 1,067HP suggests

The Gunther Werks F-26 proves a classic Porsche 911 can deliver Bugatti Veyron-rivalling performance without losing its old-school charm.

Built around the final air-cooled 993-generation 911, the outrageous restomod packs enough power to eclipse even the most legendary hypercars.

But that insane 1,067HP figure doesn’t tell the whole story.

Instead, it’s a carefully engineered machine that blends a vintage Porsche with modern engineering in spectacular fashion.

Gunther Werks F-26 is a spectacular Porsche 911 restomod

California-based supercar modifier Gunther Werks has made a name for itself by reimagining classic Porsche 911s, but the F-26 is easily its wildest creation yet.

Inspired by the iconic slantnose 930 Turbo and the brutal Porsche 935 race cars, the F-26 starts life as a 993-generation 911 before undergoing an extensive transformation, but it isn’t a caterpillar to a butterfly transition; it’s a butterfly to an even cooler butterfly transition.

The result is an astonishing 1,067 HP, at least when running on E85 ethanol fuel, but on standard gas, the supercar’s output drops to around 880HP, which is still enough to leave most modern supercars behind.

That initial fuel figure also means it edges past the original Bugatti Veyron’s famous 987HP, although comparing the two isn’t quite as straightforward as it first appears.

Even at its lower power output, the F-26 weighs just 1,247kg, giving it an extraordinary power-to-weight ratio that surpasses spectacular supercars like the McLaren 750S.

The restomod’s incredible power is only part of the story

While the engine power grabs the headlines, Gunther Werks didn’t simply squeeze more horsepower into an old Porsche and hope for the best.

Each donor car is stripped back to its bare shell before being extensively reinforced, increasing chassis rigidity by around 250 percent.

The body panels are made entirely from carbon fiber, the front suspension has been redesigned with double wishbones, and the rear axle has been repositioned to improve handling.

Just 26 examples of the F-26 will be built, each carrying a price tag of around $1.57 million.

For buyers lucky enough to secure one, it offers something few modern hypercars can match – the experience of an air-cooled Porsche 911 with enough performance to embarrass a Bugatti Veyron – how cool is that?
