An American YouTuber spent three years building a DIY Tesla Roadster at home, and the results are incredible.

Do you love your cars enough to build one yourself? It may seem like an impossible task, but all it takes is perseverance and enthusiasm — and this guy had both.

More impressively, the man had no experience in building cars, although it took him three years to do it, which perhaps reflects that.

Man builds DIY Tesla Roadster from scratch

Building a car yourself isn’t as convenient as putting Lego blocks together.

It involves hundreds of parts, processes, and an opportunity to fail at every step.

However, YouTuber Jeremy Snow didn’t falter, and he took his time to complete the project.

He also documented the entire process and put it in a 17-minute video on his YouTube channel.

If that somehow still doesn’t seem all that appealing, he had his first wiring, soldering, and welding experiences during this project.

So, how did he manage to create a DIY Tesla Roadster in three years?

Well, it involved a lot of trial-and-error situations, a K-1 Attack Kit, and sheer will.

The custom kit comes with a spaceframe, suspension components, body kit, and the entire deal.

Snow started off with assembling the frame and putting in the brakes and then headed towards the basic electronics wiring with a 12-volt battery.

Getting and putting everything together

Most enthusiasts building custom cars often want the most powerful engine that they can have, but since he was building a Tesla Roadster, getting an electric Tesla motor from a Model S made the most sense.

The kit he used didn’t have all the parts either, so he improvised and got them from a bunch of different cars instead.

Buying a Tesla Roadster might be the easiest way to get your hands on one, but building one yourself is another experience in itself.

After three (probably painstaking) years, Snow had a DIY Tesla Roadster in a blue finish with several carbon-fiber elements.

It produced around 600 horsepower, which is well above the original Roadster’s performance numbers.

Considering it had a drive unit from a Model S, it makes sense.

In the end, he even won a race and managed to get his car showcased in a museum.

Now, that’s a happy ending everyone likes to see.
