The Hummer SUV EV has finally entered production.

Production is beginning on Edition 1 of the electric Hummer, which is already completely sold out.

In fact, the EV proved so popular that GM received more than 90,000 reservations for the Hummer Pickup and SUV combined.

With production now officially underway, GM says the first examples should be delivered to reservation holders this quarter.

The news will be a huge relief for those who reserved the car, as it’s been a long three years since it was first announced.

With 90,000 reservations for both the pickup and SUV – said to be split evenly between the two – the company actually stopped taking orders in 2022.

The now-sold-out Edition 1 wasn’t cheap either.

It had a starting price of $105,595 when it was first launched back in 2021.

Hummer SUV EV power

The Edition 1 will have a tri-motor powertrain with one motor in the front and two in the back.

It produces a combined power output of 830 hp.

And despite the size of the Hummer, it will be able to go from 0-100km/h (60 mph) in 3.5 seconds.

GMC says the EV will also have a range of 482 kilometers (300 miles).

After the Edition 1, we will see two more versions of the Hummer EV SUV.

The EV2 will be the entry-level SUV and the EV2X will be its more powerful sibling.

The EV2 will have a dual-motor powertrain producing 625 hp and the EV2X will have the same powertrain as the Edition 1 – a tri-motor that produces 830 hp.

Pricing

Pricing for the entry-level EV SUV starts at around $85,000 and the Edition 1 at $105,595.

Reservations for all versions of the electric Hummer are still closed but are likely to reopen as production ramps up.
