After we fell in love with the concept car back in 2022, the hydrogen-powered Hyundai N Vision 74 has finally been green-lit for production.

The announcement about the 670bhp hydrogen powerhouse was made during Hyundai’s Investor Day.

It’s just one of 21 new cars planned by the turn of the decade.

It’s just the latest in a slew of retro electric concepts that we’re getting excited about.

Hyundai N Vision 74

As its name would suggest, the stunning car was based on the Pony Coupe concept from 1974 created by legendary Italian designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Giugiaro is the genius behind automotive masterpieces including the BMW M1, the Maserati Merak, and the De Tomaso Mangusta.

The aesthetics make the family resemblance clear with rectangular lights, thick B-pillars, a sharp roofline, and straight body lines.

Additions include a big body kit, an oversized rear wing, and plenty of air ducts – plus it’s thought the angular design of the concept will be toned down ahead of production.

It’s rumored to pack a powertrain of 670bhp and 664lb-ft.

The fuel cell sits between two 4.2kg hydrogen tanks and a 62.4kWh battery.

What’s more, the theoretical boost pressure resides at an impressive seven hundred bar.

Step inside, and the Hyundai N Vision 74 has a fully operational dashboard for toggling widgets including the air con and wiper blades.

Hydrogen-powered innovation

Supercar Blondie herself, aka Alex Hirschi, recently checked out a hydrogen-powered car with the world’s only cosmic dust headlights – the Alpine Alpenglow.

What’s more, UK-based company, Riversimple, is building a hydrogen supercar that’ll weigh next to nothing.

It will weigh in at a mere 620kg – 1,000kg less than the electric Lotus Evija.

It’s being made in an effort to use fewer resources and reduce pollution.

Their first supercar, called Rasa, said in Riversimple’s own words, is ‘great to drive, safe to drive, fun to drive, light in every respect of the word, quick to refuel, and with a super strong framework of carbon fiber’.

Departing from the road to both sea and sky, this futuristic flying boat boosts range up to 370 miles thanks to its hydrogen-electric powertrain.

Swiss-based aviation start-up Jekta has announced a partnership with ZeroAvia for the project.
