The Hyundai Staria is the brand’s first electric minivan and has been spotted for the first time.
It’s the first all-electric minivan for the brand.
It’s the electric successor to the Starex, Hyundai’s multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).
This is the first time it’s been without camouflage.

The Hyundai Staria
The new model is the electric follow-up to the Starex, which dropped back in 2021.
The Staria EV was spotted by the online community ‘Family Staria’ sitting in a Korean parking lot for the first time without camouflage – something which has helped this bike become the least likely target of theft.
Camouflage isn’t uncommon for keeping new car models, quite literally, under wraps.
At a glance, the EV appears to be similar to the Hyundai Staria Lounge aesthetically, which can either be used in a seven- or nine-seat limousine configuration or as camper van.
However, the closed grille and charging ports are points of design difference.
Obviously, this is all subject to change from test vehicle to production line.
The sign sitting on the windshield reads ‘Vehicle for UT Evaluation of the Road Vulnerable’.
This, and the fact that it’s still a test vehicle, suggest that the design could change once finalized.
The vehicle will pack Hyundai’s 84 kWh battery under the hood, providing around 10 percent greater capacity than its predecessor.
A potential camper van version of the model could also be available.
Growing EV lineup
Per reports by Newsis, Hyundai’s work on this newness will start this month.
The South Korean automaker will convert one of its production lines for the Staria electric at its Ulsan Plant 4 on January 25.
The Hyundai Staria is expected to launch in 2025.
However, European production isn’t expected until 2026.
The electric minivan is only part of Hyundai’s growing EV lineup.
Last March, Hyundai revealed the ST1 electric business van platform.
Using the Staria powertrain, the ST1 is Hyundai’s first commercial EV.
It boasts configurations including a refrigerated van and chassis cab.
