Apple’s latest iOS 26 update was supposed to make iPhones smarter, not clumsier.

But if you’ve been suddenly typing like your thumbs forgot how to spell, you’re not alone.

Across social media, iPhone users are reporting a strange new issue that’s sabotaging their texts.

Turns out the problem might not be your typing after all.

The keyboard glitch that’s driving iPhone users mad

Since Apple rolled out iOS 26 in September, forums and comment sections have filled with frustrated users saying the same thing: the iPhone keyboard has gone rogue.

Taps register the wrong letters.

The spacebar misfires.

Words appear out of order, even when autocorrect’s switched off.

One YouTuber, Michi NekoMichi, even filmed the glitch in slow motion – every press clearly landing on one key while another lights up instead.

The issue spans models, from the iPhone 17 Pro to last year’s 16 Pro.

And it’s hitting iPads too.

Some say it gets worse the faster you type.

And even switching to third-party keyboards like Gboard or SwiftKey doesn’t help, hinting the bug is baked deep into iOS 26 itself.

Apple hasn’t publicly acknowledged the problem yet, though the company is expected to roll out a patch soon.

Until then, resets and autocorrect toggles aren’t fixing it, and uninstalling iOS 26 is technically possible but not exactly ideal.

It’s not all bad news for iOS 26 users

For all its thumb-tripping chaos, iOS 26 isn’t a total disaster.

The same update that broke keyboards also quietly delivered some of the most useful upgrades iPhone users have seen in years.

One of the biggest surprises was buried inside the Apple Calendar app, where a subtle new screenshot feature is turning into a genuine productivity hack.

After taking a screenshot of an event poster, your phone now recognizes the details and instantly offers to add them to your calendar – a small but practical touch for anyone struggling to juggle dates.

Elsewhere, call screening is giving iPhone owners the upper hand against spam and robocalls.

The new built-in filter lets unknown callers identify themselves before you ever pick up – a feature so effective that scammers reportedly hang up mid-script.

And if you’re using your iPhone on the road, CarPlay finally caught up to Tesla-style infotainment.

The update unlocked a long-hidden video-playback feature, letting you stream clips while parked.

Perfect for killing time in the school pickup line.

Together, the updates show how iOS 26 can be both a headache and a win – buggy thumbs one day, brilliant upgrades the next.
