Imagine seeing flashing blue lights in your rearview mirror, only to discover that the Italian police car behind you is a Lamborghini Temerario capable of speeds that most drivers can only dream of.
Italy’s State Police has welcomed a new Temerario to its fleet, bringing some seriously impressive performance to the country’s roads.
The hybrid supercar was officially presented at Lamborghini’s headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese in September 2026.
But there’s a much more important reason behind this unusual partnership than simply giving officers a very cool set of wheels.
Lamborghini has been supplying Italy’s police with supercars since 2004
The relationship between Lamborghini and Italy’s State Police began more than two decades ago, when the first Gallardo joined the fleet in 2004.
That original supercar wasn’t just there to look good in a police uniform, either.
According to Lamborghini’s official announcement, the first Gallardo completed an organ transport mission in September of the same year it was handed over.

Since then, the partnership has continued through several generations of Lamborghini models, including the Gallardo LP 560-4, the Huracán and the Urus Performante, which entered service in 2023.
The new Temerario is the latest addition to the collection, with Lamborghini confirming that six of its cars have joined the State Police fleet over the course of the partnership.

And these aren’t just flashy vehicles sitting around for photo opportunities.
Lamborghini says its police cars have completed more than 200 organ transport missions across Italy, alongside more than 1,500 road safety education initiatives.

The new Lamborghini Temerario has 907 horsepower
The latest arrival certainly isn’t short on performance.
The Temerario uses a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine paired with three electric motors, producing a combined 920 metric horsepower, equivalent to around 907 horsepower in US measurements.
That makes it a seriously powerful addition to the police fleet, with hybrid technology bringing a new twist to Italy’s long-running relationship with the Italian supercar manufacturer.

The standard Temerario can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in around 2.7 seconds and reach a top speed of approximately 213 mph, according to Lamborghini’s model specifications.
Naturally, the police version wears a distinctive blue-and-white livery and is equipped for official duties.
However, its most important equipment isn’t necessarily the flashing lights or police communications gear.
The real reason Italy keeps getting Lamborghinis
The key to understanding this partnership is that the cars have a life-saving job to do.
The Temerario will support urgent missions, including transporting organs and medical supplies, joining the other Lamborghini vehicles already in service.
When medical teams need to move an organ quickly between locations, every minute can matter.

A high-performance vehicle capable of covering long distances rapidly can help officers get essential medical cargo where it needs to be.
The police fleet’s history demonstrates that this isn’t just a theoretical benefit because Lamborghini’s figures show that its vehicles have already taken part in more than 200 organ transport missions since the partnership began.
There’s also a broader public service element, with the cars supporting road safety education initiatives across the country.

So, while a Lamborghini in police colors might look like the ultimate automotive flex, there’s a practical purpose behind the partnership.
The Temerario represents the latest chapter in a relationship that has lasted since 2004, combining Italian engineering with a job that can genuinely save lives.
And if the history of this partnership is anything to go by, it probably won’t be the last Lamborghini to join the force.
