This stunning 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 hasn’t been driven in more than a decade but is still in surprisingly good condition.
The Shelby Mustang GT350 was launched in 1965, with the early models being the smallest and lightest of all GT350s.
Fitted with a 4.7 liter V8 engine that could produce 271 horsepower, the GT350 was an instant hit with muscle car fans.
This example found in South Charleston, West Virginia, was snapped up back in the 1970s before being placed into storage for the last 10 to 12 years.

The 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 is in great condition

All too often cars that are taken off the road and placed in storage face a pretty grim future, such as this 1971 Plymouth Barracuda that’s going to need a lot of TLC to get it back on the road, or this classic Chevy sedan that had become home to a family of mice.
However, this Shelby has fared much better and is still in great shape.
The owner, who had the car for 48 years, had clearly taken very good care of the vehicle.
Even when he decided to put it away in storage he placed it under a tarp in a weather-protecting environment.
The man behind the American Mustangs YouTube channel revealed he spent ‘well over a year’ trying to track down the owner to arrange a sale – but it was certainly worth the wait.
The Shelby is also incredibly rare
Like all 1965 GT350s, the car is painted in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue rocker stripes and it still gleams like it just rolled off the production line.
It has its original sixteen-inch Shelby Cobra steering wheel, adjustable front and rear Koni shock absorbers, aircraft-style three-inch safety belts, and an Autolite battery in the trunk.
Not only is the car in tip-top condition, but it’s about as rare as they came.
As we mentioned, 1965 was the first year the GT350s were produced, and this car is one of just 562 examples built, including race cars and various prototypes.
If we only consider street-legal and road-ready cars produced that number drops to just 504.
Not a bad find.
