The James Webb Telescope has released a massive amount of space data on the internet, thanks to NASA and COSMOS, opening up a vast array of universes and galaxies to explore.

The telescope is possibly the most famous in the world, and its latest data dump from the Cosmic Evolution Survey (COSMOS) is truly fascinating.

In total, over 1.5TB of data has been dropped by the telescope, which also includes an interactive viewer.

That allows us all to examine the amazing photos and data that James Webb has collected, providing one of the best glimpses into space we’ve ever seen.

The star attraction of the data was easily the interactive viewer.

This incredible feature allows us to gawp and look in awe at all the space imagery from the telescope.

According to COSMOS and NASA, the images encompass nearly 800,000 galaxies, such is the scope of the James Webb Telescope data.

Much of the jargon regarding the data might sound confusing.

However, the COSMOS team has provided extra detail to help us make sense of it.

The data includes near-infrared imaging (NIRcam), allowing the telescope to chart various parts of galaxies.

There are up to 20 zones in the images from the telescope, and each has unique codes to help narrow down the areas.

Just one of those zones, defined by a mas number such as 30mas, could total over 170GB should you wish to download it.

The COSMOS team allows us to view all of these individual sites.

We can even zoom in further to highlight very specific parts of the galaxies in the images.

According to the press release from the team, the published survey equates to around the area of three full moons.

That shows the sheer vastness of the area the telescope has covered.

NASA has said that this might be the largest deep view into the universe that the public will have ever seen.

At the moment, the COSMOS project has covered around two million galaxies.

The hope is that the research provided by James Webb and other telescopes will allow us to study these galaxies.

This will then allow us to see how they form and evolve over time.
