Jason Momoa once lived in an RV worth more than your house, but some states make living in an RV illegal

As more states have made living in your RV illegal, we can’t help but think of the time that Jason Momoa took to living in an RV worth more than your house.

Back in 2022, the Aquaman star had separated from his wife, fellow actor Lisa Bonet, and moved out of the home they had shared.

Rather than buying up a new house straight away, he took to living in his $750,000 luxury EarthRoamer.

But would he have been able to do that these days, with more and more states moving to ban such a living arrangement?

Jason Momoa once lived in an RV – but this thing cost more than your house

The EarthRoamer XV-LTi 026 RV looks every bit the heavy roller, but it’s also a luxury pad on wheels.

We’re talking a bespoke luxury interior, an outdoor kitchen, and a Nespresso machine.

Not only was Momoa, who bought it back in 2018, living in after his split from Lisa Bonet, but he also made use of it for work purposes.

He turned up to the Aquaman premiere in the vehicle, which is certainly a statement of superhero proportions.

But he’s also made use of the mobile home while working away from home on movies.

“He stays in it quite often and has opted to sleep in there instead of getting a hotel on set so he can be by the beach. He’s really not a private jet, luxury resort kind of guy,” a source told The Sun.

There’s no report to suggest that the actor is still living in his RV, and that’s probably a good thing, as more and more states are outlawing such a practice.

Why are state governments doing this?

If you were thinking of setting up a home inside your RV, you might want to steer clear of Michigan, Hawaii, Indiana, and Delaware.

The states have made it illegal to live in your mobile home – even if you’re parked on your own property!

In Hawaii, RVs are seen as regular vehicles, which state law rules can not be used ‘for purposes of human habitation’.

Over in Indiana, they’re seen as strictly temporary residence.

But it’s Delaware that has the most punitive measures in place.

Not only are RVs barred from being permanent residences, but the state also has strict parking laws surrounding the vehicles, and only five state parks allow any RV parking at all.

By way of comparison, states with less severe regulations surrounding RVs include Texas, Colorado, and Oregon, SlashGear reported.

Admittedly, four states out of 50 is a pretty slim number, but who knows if more states will follow suit in the future?

So, for now, it’s probably best if Momoa stays put in a mansion for the most part.

Not that living in an RV would have made him totally stand out.

This Texas man lives his dream life in the Colorado mountains in his $900,000 EarthRoamer.

And this woman retired early to live in her 2006 Smart ForTwo.
