Jay Leno is no stranger to getting all the intel on supercars after their anticipated release.
He was the first lucky driver of the 2026 Tesla Model Y and it’s safe to say, he was impressed.
Plus, he even got behind the wheel of a rare 1965 Ford Mustang he rode in as a kid 60 years ago – what a full circle moment.
Now, though, Leno’s revealed just what he thinks of the new McLaren W1.
The W1 is ‘automotive royalty’
Priced at a mighty $2,100,000, this new hybrid supercar is sure to set tails wagging.
Described as the ‘real supercar’ by McLaren itself – it sure does have a lot of expectation to live up to.
What did Jay Leno really think?

Well, he started off by explaining that he ‘was so impressed I bought one,’ so the supercar clearly sealed the deal with the famed host.
In a video where he discusses the new auto – he was joined by Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren, who really does know his stuff.
Leiters even said he felt privileged to be the driving force behind the W1 – now that’s a good sign if ever we’ve seen one.

In fact, we can see why as the car really is a powerhouse, packing 1,258HP under its belt, alongside revolutionary aerodynamic elements.
It may as well be a Formula One car with it all its high tech aspects.
Alongside being super-light and made of carbon fiber, it also has cooling features, too.
So driving in the Californian desert in high temperatures will be a job well done by the W1.
If that wasn’t enough, the car was also described ‘automotive royalty’ by Leno himself – which is saying something coming from the king of all things cars.
This isn’t Leno’s first time behind the wheel of a McLaren
Leno already has a beloved P1 and F1 in his garage and has driven them around The Golden State.
So the most important question is, will the new delivery live up to his dreams?
Well, he’ll be waiting a while to figure that out. His W1 won’t hit his garage until the first half of 2026.
So for now it’s a case of watching McLaren’s technology in action during the Formula One season while the W1’s are pimped and preened to perfection.
