Jeremy Clarkson recently drove the new Ferrari 12Cilindri, and he has something to say about this supercar.

He loved it, mostly.

And the reason, in his words, is the car’s ‘raw and old-fashioned power’.

But there’s one thing about the new Ferrari he didn’t really enjoy.

Jeremy Clarkson is still driving cars for a living… but with a catch

A little over a year ago, around the same time the last Grand Tour episode aired, Clarkson gave an interview with the Times in which he explained that part of the reason why the Grand Tour ended was that they had simply run out of ideas.

“I’ve driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else. We’ve done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air,” he said.

He also explained that he simply isn’t interested in electric cars, and he doesn’t find them exciting enough to build a show around them.

Some people assumed that automatically meant Clarkson would simply stop driving cars professionally altogether to focus on his pub and his farm, but that’s not what happened.

Clarkson is still driving cars for a living, but only for his Sunday Times reviews.

There are still cars that, in his own words, make him ‘weak at the knees’, in the same way the Ferrari F12 he drove on Top Gear (above) did all those years ago.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is definitely one of those cars, but with a catch.

The one thing Clarkson didn’t like about the latest Ferrari

Jeremy Clarkson enjoyed nearly everything about the new Ferrari.

“It’s magnificent. And that’s mainly because of the front-mounted engine. No turbo. No hybrid assistance. Just sheer, naked, old-fashioned power,” he wrote.

However, there’s one thing he didn’t love about this supercar and that’s its sheer size.

“Sensors beep when you are near an obstacle, but in a car this size you are always near an obstacle,” he penned in his Sunday Times column.

Modern cars are enormous.

This has been a recurring theme for a while, and things aren’t changing.

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is 186 inches long (4.7 meters) and 85 inches wide (2.1 meters), which makes it roughly as wide as a Range Rover.

But more importantly, this also means the 12Cilindri is 20 inches longer than the Ferrari 308, basically its great-great-grandad.

At this rate, a Ferrari built 20 years from now will be the same size as an SUV today.
