Dior is renewing its contract with Johnny Depp as the face of its Sauvage fragrance.
The brand has posted images of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor to its Instagram page, describing him as “fearless yet human, just like Sauvage”.
It comes after the actor’s messy defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Following a sensational two-month-long trial, during which lurid details of the couple’s relationship were aired to the world, the jury largely sided with Depp.
They awarded him $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages when he won the case.

In short, Depp sued Heard over an op-ed piece she wrote in 2018, in which she said she was a victim of domestic violence.
The trial was televised and made headlines right across the world, muddying both celebrities’ names to different degrees.
While Heard’s name was dragged through the mud, Depp came out the other side relatively unscathed.
Dior never officially parted with Depp during the trial, but kept a long leash.
Now it’s over, the brand has reportedly signed him for a multi-year contract.

In the first group of images posted to the Dior Beauty Instagram page, Depp is seen playing the guitar backstage before giving a show at Olympia Hall.
“Sauvage brings me a lot of memories, a lot of shows,” Depp said about the fragrance.
“Things that you smelled growing up that if I smell it, it takes me right back and I see the person that used to wear it.
“It’s a sense memory, so a smell can make you travel.”
The reaction to the renewed contract has been mixed online, but largely positive.
“So proud of you Johnny, and thank you Dior,” one user said.
“Love your support for Johnny,” another said.
