Kalmar Automotive has just thrown the covers off the ultimate Porsche 930 Turbo.

The Danish-based coachbuilder is known for paying tribute to the past with a petrol-head precision.

Now, it has paid homage to the Porsche 930 Turbo – one of the most iconic cars ever built.

But this version comes with certified supercar power behind it.

Kalmar reveals stunning Porsche 930 Turbo tribute

About a year ago, Kalmar Automotive did something truly amazing.

The Danish coachbuilder released its homage to the Porsche 993.

Called the 7-97, it captured the car world’s imagination for its performance and its striking looks.

And now Kalmar is back at it once again – and it’s even more powerful than before.

That is because the firm has paid homage to the legendary Porsche 930 Turbo.

As the name implies, it brings some serious, turbocharged power.

It will also be offered in both Coupe and Cabriolet forms.

If you’re hoping to get your hands on one, then you’ll have to be quick – as just 11 units will be made.

Powerplant puts Kalmar’s homage among elite company

But what does the power delivery look like?

If you recall, the original Kalmar 7-97 came equipped with a 4-liter, naturally aspirated flat-six engine.

This delivered 411hp and 310lb-ft of torque for a pure thrill of a driving experience.

But the new Porsche 930 Turbo tribute completely flips the script.

Said naturally aspirated engine has been replaced with a 3.2-liter turbocharged flat-six.

This kicks up the power to a staggering 650hp, as well as 494lb-ft of torque.

As you can probably see, this puts Kalmar’s restomod among some elite company.

So what changes did the company make to the engine itself?

Well, the engine has been comprehensively upgraded with new pistons, reinforced cylinder walls, copper-beryllium head gaskets, and fresh valve seats.

Power is transferred and shared to all four wheels, and is coupled with a modern traction control system.

Oh – and it comes with a manual gearbox, so that’s even more fun guaranteed.

Changes across the board

The same level of changes to the engine has been applied to the body and the chassis.

Several parts of the body have been strengthened with the introduction of carbon fiber.

This four-wheeled homage sits on 18-inch magnesium center lock wheels.

What is interesting is the Kalmar philosophy on turbocharging itself.

With modern electronics and suspension systems, the Turbo Edition is designed to deliver all that power without the drama – unless you really want it.

The interior has also seen some slight tweaks and changes.

This Turbo Edition mirrors the standard 7-97 – but it adds its own unique touches.

This example features Recaro Sportster CS seats trimmed in leather, finished in a deep brown shade that suits the car’s character.

A heavy emphasis from Kalmar is on customization.

So each of the 11 lucky buyers will get to exclusively modify their car to their personal taste.
