This Kansas man was left considering selling his $500k 1989 Lamborghini Countach once he had a look at a replica.

Tyler Hoover, the host of Hoovies Garage, was proud of his 25th Anniversary Countach, which was the ‘flagship’ and ‘elder statesman’ of his car fleet.

But when it came time to compare it to a fake, he was left reconsidering his stance.

Could a duplicate really match the original in performance and looks?

How this 1989 Lamborghini Countach replica had this Kansas man reconsidering

When it comes to replicas of supercars, they have a bit of a mixed record.

Some people have have made theirs surprisingly accurate, like this Honda Civic which was turned into a Lamborghini Aventador.

On the other hand, others have felt the sting of trying to be frugal, as was the case with this YouTuber and a fake Lambo.

Of his regular Countach, Tyler had a lot of praise.

He said: “When I bought it, it was a little over six figures. Nowadays they’ve exploded in value.

“It’s great to own something that appreciates in value.

“I’m scared to drive it, so I don’t get to drive it all that much.”

A common question that Tyler got from admirers was about whether his Countach was real.

This was because of a high amount of duplicates on the market.

Tyler was heading out to Las Vegas to visit his friend ‘Video Bob’, who was an expert in replicas.

There, Tyler would get to take a look at a replica for himself.

How would it measure up to the real deal?

Taking a look inside Video Bob’s fake Lambo

When he first took a look inside Bob’s replica, Hoover was left grimacing.

With a ton of exposed wires, Bob wasn’t lying when he described it as a ‘work in progress’.

Tyler commented: “I came here to see a much nicer Countach…this looks like an elephant sat on it.”

It would have been a shame to fly all the way from Kansas for such a dud.

It certainly wasn’t as nice as this $250k Ferrari replica.

Fortunately, Bob had a nicer replica in the back.

It left Tyler stunned, as he remarked that it might have a nicer paint job than his own genuine article.

When he got to sit inside the car, he couldn’t help feeling a little disappointed.

He commented to Bob: “The interior’s a bit of a let-down here…

“One positive is that there’s more head room, but the quality kind of falls apart on the inside.

“They want you to think it’s a Countach from the outside, then on the inside you lose a little bit in the details.”

A crooked logo on the wheel being just one example of that issue.

And the fact you needed an electric drill to roll down the window wasn’t great either.

Bob claimed that he paid $20k for the replica.

Tyler took it for a spin and noted that it felt like a ‘lighter’ drive’, whilst acknowledging he felt ‘relaxed and comfortable’ driving it.

He jokingly suggested that he would trade in his Countach for a replica.

If they finetune some of the interior issues, we might get where he’s going with that train of thought.

To see the replica for yourself, head over to Hoovies Garage.
