To celebrate its 80th anniversary in style, Kia dropped a wild concept that had its headlights mounted on floating fins.

This is the Vision Meta Turismo, a four-door grand-tourer style sedan.

Whilst it may look like it rolled straight out of a time machine from the distant future, it includes nods to several classic cars.

What better way to ring in the big 8-0 than with a vision of what the future could look like?

Taking a closer look at this dazzling Kia concept car

The Vision Meta Turismo takes on a ‘torpedo-like’ form, thanks to a short hood, long cabin, and a sharply angled windshield.

In place of traditional mirrors, the car comes with side-view cameras.

Furthering the futuristic vibes are aerodynamic fins and slim split LED lights.

Yes, you read that right – fins.

Not fins like a fish has, but fins that you’d see on classic American cars from the 1950s and early 1960s

Needless to say, they do give the car a futuristic look and certainly back up Kia’s claim that the car is ‘our first bold glimpse into the future of mobility’.

Whilst Kia hasn’t said that this concept was an EV, it certainly looks like one based on the view from behind.

Given that this is a concept car, there’s not much meat when it comes to specifications like top speed, price, and all that good stuff.

But the design does give us a lot to mull over.

The interior is very much lounge-inspired, with a spacious and modern layout, complemented by white and yellow colors.

But this space isn’t just for stretching out – driving is still at the heart of this design.

And in place of a conventional steering wheel is a hexagon, because why not?

On the windshield, there’s an assortment of data on display, including a speedometer, a boost level meter, and video-game stats.

This car will have you feeling like you’re inside Iron Man’s helmet.

That is, if it was actually being made.

That’s the rub with concept cars – they’re only figments of the manufacturer’s collective imagination.

But who knows? Maybe one day, we’ll be seeing the Vision Meta Turismo in the flesh, or metal.

What better way to celebrate a big anniversary?

But at any rate, this was a great way to celebrate a big 80th anniversary.

It just gets us all excited about what the future holds for Kia.

Other car brands have celebrated milestone birthdays in similarly creative fashion.

To commemorate 100 years of the Phantom, Rolls-Royce rolled out some imagination-defying woodwork.

Over at Bentley, the company celebrated a ‘triple birthday’ with a collection of limited-edition Flying Spurs.

And then there’s Aston Martin, which brought two wild convertibles out to celebrate 60 years of Volante.
