A Kia EV6 GT dared to take on a Ferrari Purosangue in a drag race, and not only did it do that, but the EV also embarrassed the Italian super SUV.
Mat Watson and carwow took the EV6 GT and pitched it against the Purosangue, the Italian company’s first-ever SUV.
With a massive V12 under the hood, you might expect the Ferrari to haul in the EV6 and start to pull away from it.
But the Kia showed that it can more than handle the Purosangue, and it created some embarrassment for the SUV.

How did the Ferrari Purosangue and Kia EV6 GT compare?
The Kia EV6 GT is the top-of-the-range electric model, boasting the most power of any variant.
Under the hood of the Kia is a dual-motor setup, making 641hp and 568lb-ft of torque.
Compare that to the Ferrari Purosangue, which has a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine under the hood.
The V12 in the Purosangue produces 725hp and 528lb-ft of torque.

So the SUV has more power than the Kia, but similar amounts of torque to the electric car.
The SUV also has a 0-60mph time of 3.1 seconds, which is around 0.1 seconds quicker than the Kia.
Yet the electric crossover was more than a match for the Ferrari.
How the EV6 GT embarrassed the Purosangue
In the first race, the instant torque delivery of the Kia comes into its own as it rockets away from the Ferrari.
Yet with the horsepower advantage, the Purosangue is unable to reel the electric crossover in.
In the second race, the SUV got a better launch, but the electric car is still able to pull away from its rival.
Watson and carwow begin to call the results ’embarrassing’ for the luxury SUV.
A third drag race sees exactly the same result transpire once again.
Another run takes place with the Kia in manual mode, disabling its launch control.
The Purosangue does take the victory, but another drag race after this sees the crossover win yet again.
The rolling races show the Ferrari does have the ultimate legs over its electric rival.
Yet from a standing start, the EV6 GT embarrassed the V12-powered Ferrari Purosangue.
