King Charles III of the United Kingdom has added a new $218,000 electric sports car that has been described as ‘silent but deadly’.
The British monarch is renowned for his love of cars.
But he’s also known for being a keen environmentalist.
That’s where this new electric sports car comes into the picture.

King Charles III has a new car in his collection – a ‘silent but deadly’ electric sports car
King Charles III and Queen Camilla of England have been spotted in a new royal car as they arrived at a church service.
It was no other than a Lotus Eletre, and it made for a striking image as it rolled up to St Peter’s Church out in the leafy village of Wolferton, Norfolk.
Speaking to royal watchers who had gathered outside the service for a glimpse of the King, Charles remarked that his car was ‘silent but deadly’.

Not often that you hear that phrase in a positive light, is it?
Reports of the King adding the Lotus Eletre to his car family had been circulating as early as May 2025, but this was a rare sighting of the royal EV in all its glory.
Before purchasing the car, the Royal Family had a Lotus on loan, Hello! Magazine reported.
With electric charging points fitted at Royal Households up and down the UK, and two electric BMWs in the family, it’s clear that King Charles means business when it comes to electrification.

As you might expect for a King, his car was fitted for comfort, as he had a special silk cushion to sit on.
It’s been reported that he sits upon this cushion to ease his back pain.
When you travel, you might as well travel in comfort, right?

A car collection fit for a King
King Charles has a car collection worth approximately $15 million – not too shabby at all.
Rolls-Royce cars feature repeatedly – a 1950 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV ($3.92 million), a 1962 Rolls-Royce Phantom V ($3.92 million), and a 1977 Rolls-Royce Phantom V1 ($1.71 million).
And let’s not forget the $460k Rolls-Royce Cullinan Series II he was gifted back in 2023 by the King of Bahrain.
Then there’s the Aston Martin DB6 Volante Series II, which was a gift from his late mother.
This car also runs on surplus wine and cheese whey, an innovation which is as eccentric as it is environmentally friendly.
If you had the sort of money he has, wouldn’t you do the same?
