Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton gave his former Formula 1 team, Mercedes, a parting gift after he began his new life at Ferrari.

Hamilton joined the Mercedes team in 2013, and during his time there, he won six world driver titles.

He also played a massive role in Mercedes’s eight consecutive constructors’ world titles.

As a final farewell, Hamilton commissioned famous motorsport artist Paul Oz to create a painting for his team.

The painting depicts Hamilton in Monaco in 2019

This was a painting of the Briton at the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix.

The first race he won after the death of Mercedes advisor Niki Lauda.

The painting showcases the celebrity driver aboard the 2019 Mercedes at that year’s Monaco Grand Prix.

With Lauda’s death just a few days prior, the team ran special red halos on the car in a nod to Lauda’s race helmet and famous red caps.

Like many of his fellow drivers, Hamilton ran that weekend with a special Lauda tribute helmet. Painter Paul Oz handed out prints of the picture to over 3,000 members of the Mercedes staff.

In a post on his Instagram page, the artist said that the original painting he did is now on display at the Mercedes team’s Brackley headquarters in the United Kingdom.

Hamilton won the Grand Prix despite a questionable tire strategy choice following an early safety car.

Mercedes former star has begun life at Ferrari for 2025

Hamilton announced before the 2024 F1 season began that he would leave Mercedes for Ferrari in 2025.

Although his final year at Mercedes was incredibly challenging, he still managed to win two Grand Prix at Silverstone and Spa.

His Ferrari debut came at the team’s Fiorano circuit in Maranello, testing the 2023 Ferrari SF-23. The test was watched by hundreds of Ferrari fans who lined the walls overlooking the circuit.

The Briton and new teammate Charles Leclerc have also been taking part in tests in Barcelona ahead of the F1 75 launch event and pre-season testing.

Hamilton took social media by storm after posting pictures of himself wearing the iconic Ferrari red and his new yellow crash helmet design.
