Breaking a Guinness World Record has always been a pretty big deal, but the race to ‘longest EV drive on a single charge’ is pretty new for the Lucid Air GT.

Lucid Motors managed to bag the title.

The Air Grand Touring (GT) recently became a Guinness World Record holder.

In fact, it has become the record holder for the longest EV drive on a single charge.

Lucid Air GT sets record for longest EV drive on a single charge

Being a Guinness World Record holder is an honor held by very few groups.

And yet Lucid Motors is the newest group added to that esteemed list.

The company isn’t exactly the most well-known name in the EV world.

And yet it has managed to manufacture a car capable of driving almost 800 miles on a single charge.

Last week, Lucid Motors sent its Air GT sedan on a mammoth tour of Europe.

The journey in question saw the car drive across Switzerland, Austria, and Germany.

This Lucid Air GT set off from St. Moritz as it aimed to secure its place in history.

The team of three from Lucid set off on July 5th, arriving in Munich the following day.

Umit Sabanci, one of the test drivers, said that: “It’s a true test of range, planning, and efficiency.”

“It’s about showing what electric vehicles are capable of today. Not just in theory, but in action.”

Sabanci even went so far as to say, “Lucid Air Grand Touring is the king of range”.

The EV marque is widely expected to release the full video over the course of the next few days.

A company with an intriguing backstory

Lucid itself is a company with quite an interesting story behind it.

Lucid Motors might be an unknown name in the EV world, but it is actually one of the oldest.

That is because Lucid Motors was actually founded all the way back in 2007.

Back then, a group, which included Tesla Vice President Bernard Tse, founded its own company.

Atieva was founded in order to build EV batteries and powertrains for different brands.

In October 2016, Atieva was officially rebranded as Lucid Motors.

A large majority of Lucid Motors’ funding comes from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Lucid is certainly an interesting company for you to keep an eye on.

After all, achieving a Guinness World Record is certainly one for the books.
