A Lucid Air Sapphire electric sedan, wearing a set of track tires, has posted a 0–60 mph time of 1.9 seconds, the quickest ever recorded for a production four-door.
The 1,234-horsepower car achieved the figure on Pirelli tires fitted as a dealer option.
On standard Michelin tires, the Sapphire’s best run was 2.2 seconds.
The new result moved Lucid ahead of its main competitors and set a new mark for acceleration in the electric sedan segment.

Fastest Lucid Air Sapphire with track tires
Earlier runs had already shown the Lucid Air Sapphire to be one of the quickest electric sedans available, but traction held it back from meeting Lucid’s sub-two-second claim.
By equipping Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS Elect track tires, sold as an $8,250 package, the car finally delivered.
In MotorTrend’s independent tests, the electric sedan reached 60 mph in 1.881 seconds, setting a verified record.

The time narrowly beat the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Weissach, which had held the benchmark at 1.887 seconds.
Over the quarter mile, the Lucid Air Sapphire recorded 9.0 seconds at 154.8 mph.
Braking also improved, stopping from 60 mph in 93 feet.
On handling runs, the car showed higher cornering grip than before while keeping its stability intact.
The results confirm the measurable effect of switching to track tires on a high-powered electric sedan.
What the record means for EVs
With its 0–60 mph result, the Lucid Air Sapphire now leads the performance EV category in straight-line speed.
Porsche and Tesla remain strong rivals, but Lucid holds the official acceleration record.
The Taycan still has an advantage in agility thanks to its lower weight, but in pure pace the Sapphire now sits first.
The record comes without sacrificing the traits of a full-size electric sedan.

The Sapphire carries a 427-mile estimated range, a spacious interior, and four-door practicality while posting figures that rival two-seat sports cars.
Lucid’s next model, the Gravity SUV, is expected to continue combining long range with high performance in a larger format.
The 1.9-second 0–60 mph run, achieved with track tires in MotorTrend testing, is an independently verified result.
It places the Lucid Air Sapphire at the front of the acceleration rankings and adds a new milestone in the ongoing competition between the leading performance EV manufacturers.
