Woman claims a simple mistake destroyed her MacBook screen and thinks people should listen up

A woman has issued a warning to Apple MacBook owners after she claimed a simple mistake destroyed her screen, imploring people to listen up.
Posted in the summer of 2025, content creator and TikTok user Heidi (@classicheidi) shared a video after she found the screen of her MacBook had been totally shattered.
The problem had left her incredibly confused, and she claimed that she had simply put the laptop on her bed before discovering the issue.
However, she worked out what might have caused it to crack, and she implored others to be careful with their MacBooks.

What caused the MacBook screen to crack?
In her video, Heidi said she opened up the MacBook to the ‘biggest jumpscare of the century’.
She was completely baffled to see it cracked, having simply put it on her bed to use it.
After doing some digging, Heidi remembered she had a card placed inside the laptop.
That led her to think that closing the screen on it could have internally cracked the screen.
The pressure from the card could have been what caused the damage.
Heidi would never have guessed such a small bit of card could cause this damage.
Naturally, she hoped followers would learn from her mistake.
Yet it looks completely innocent, and it might be something many of us have done ourselves.

Is this problem common knowledge?
It seemed from the comments that Heidi was not alone in being confused.
One user responded, saying they had a $100 Google Chromebook that had suffered lots of abuse.
It has been dropped on a treadmill and catapulted into a wall, but it’s basically fine.
Someone else said they used their Apple MacBook as a folder, and it’s never had a cracked screen.

Others also said they will never leave stuff on the screen again after seeing Heidi’s video.
So if you were leaving a card or anything else between a Apple MacBook screen, then its probably best you stop!
