This man bought two cheap broken BMWs at auction and quickly discovered he hasn’t learned from past mistakes.
Tyler Hoover, host of YouTube channel Hoovies Garage, is no stranger to getting himself in a pickle.
So buying some ‘hoopties’ – his term for a beat-up but interesting car – wasn’t too out of character for him.
But would these cars be exceptionally difficult to work with?

Buying two cheap broken BMWs at auction – another day at the office?
When it comes to cars, Tyler Hoover has found himself in some sticky situations before.
You may recall that he previously bought a broken Bugatti Veyron, which he later called his ‘dumbest purchase‘.
There was also the time his girlfriend surprised him with a Dodge Dart – and it broke down not long after.

So how would things turn out when he took on two broken BMWs on auction in Palm Beach?
There were a lot of cool cars going for sale at the Barrett-Jackson sale including a Rolls-Royce Corniche, a Honda 600 truck conversion, and a Panoz Esperante.
But the cars that caught Hoover’s attention were two BMWs.
The first was a red 2001 BMW 740i Sport with only 70,000 miles on the clock.
He secured it for $11,000.

“It does have every single light on, so bit of a risk there,” Hoover said.
“But otherwise in nice shape.”
Service records showed that the car had undergone $5,000 worth of work in January.
Hoover figured whatever issues were still dormant in the car would be an easy fix.
But this isn’t where the story ends.
“I decided to press my luck and got another car,” he told his viewers.
The second car bought at auction
The next car he bought was a 2007 BMW M6.

“I have no idea if it’s good, if it’s bad, if it’s working,” he admitted.
The car had 105,000 miles on it, and was purchased for $9,000.
Hoover straight up admitted that this purchase was a roll of the dice.
Fortunately, both of them drove nicely.

Minor issues aside – like a broken glove compartment handle in the 740i Sport – these cars were a home run, as far as cheap auction purchases are concerned.
Looks like luck was on Hoover’s side this time around.
