A multi-UTV champion, Stock Car World Champion, and car addict, bought a $1,600,000 McLaren hypercar from Harrods before being forced to go to the brand over a potential issue.
It was the first sale of a luxury car by the upscale London store.
The sale garnered some major attention, including from McLaren itself.
However, it wasn’t for the right reasons, as a potential issue with the hybrid battery system almost made him regret his investment.

The McLaren hypercar from Harrods
Despite Mark McCann initially loving the car, many viewers disliked its original orange paint, prompting the creator to send the McLaren P1 for a custom wrap.
He opted for stealth satin black, inspired by his old Lamborghini Aventador.
He also made McLaren customizations that were personal to him and his family.

McCann even designed custom and difficult-to-fit wheels, choosing between several styles with input from his daughter, Senna.
The car license plate, however, was a little less family-friendly.
The potential red flag
Aside from struggling to fit custom wheels and domestic disputes over the NSFW plates, the hybrid battery of the McLaren P1 was almost a deal-breaker.
During McCann’s conversation with automotive icon, Tavarish, he explained that many P1s suffer from hybrid battery fatigue.
That’s due to aging and lack of use. It’s similar to the way old iPhone batteries lose power due to cell degradation in the older tech.
This supercar example had been off the road for three years, and it looks like a depleted battery was going to be a difficult and expensive fix.
McLaren confirmed that replacing the high-voltage battery could cost $160,000, and even the charger alone could cost almost $27,000.
Thankfully, after a full check, the hybrid battery of the P1 was healthy, with McCann vowing to drive it regularly to keep it conditioned and help it last longer.
We can only imagine how relieved McCann must have been!
