This man bought a one of 94 Aston Martin Vanquish, which was worth $400k, but he had no idea if the engine would be saveable.
The car had sustained some flood damage, and was significantly cheaper as a result.
As his name suggested, YouTuber Fixing Salvage has a track record of buying damaged cars.
But would fixing Vanquish prove to be too big a job?

This Aston Martin was a rare find, but Fixing Salvage was lucky enough to win it at auction.
The Vanquish was first unveiled back in 2001, before being retired in 2007.
In that time, it managed to snag itself an appearance in a James Bond movie – 2002’s Die Another Day.

The second generation would be rolled between 2012 and 2018.
Last year, it made its second comeback, with a V12 engine designed to make it look like the car had ‘been in the gym’.
At any rate, the Vanquish that Fixing Salvage got his hands on was from 2004.
“This is the biggest risk I’ve ever taken on a car,” he told his subscribers.
“Because if this engine is ruined…I don’t even want to think about it.”
An initial inspection showed that water damage had made its mark on the interior.

But the main concern for him was still the engine.
Draining the engine produced a ton of water and oil.
By the time he plugged it, the vat it’d poured into looked like a swamp.
“That’s a lot of water, maybe it’ll be a boat or submarine instead,” he remarked.
“It was like Niagara Falls.”

By the video’s end, the engine had been drained.
It remains to be seen if the engine has further issues, but Fixing Salvage is still dedicated to getting it fixed up.
Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a flood-damaged Aston Martin – one guy was quoted $40,000 to fix his flooded V12 DBS.
Fortunately, he managed to do it for himself for $50.
