Man buys the cheapest car on the internet to see if it's a bargain or just a total trap

This guy bought the cheapest car he could find on the internet in the UK to see if it was any good, and the result was quite surprising.

The vehicle he ended up with is a 20-year-old (give or take) convertible.

A fun vehicle when it was new, most people probably forgot this car existed.

There’s usually a good reason (or more than one) to explain why these cars are so cheap.

Why these cars are so cheap

Best-case scenario: the vehicle runs and goes from A to B as long as A is fairly close to B and as long as getting to B on time – or at all – isn’t a crucial part of the journey.

Worst-case scenario: everything is terrible and everything is broken.

Some vehicles also depreciate faster because they have a bad reputation, and they have a bad reputation because they depreciate faster.

Like a self-fulfilling prophecy or a dog biting its own tail.

On the opposite end of this particular equation we’ve got Toyotas, which are generally considered bulletproof.

That’s why some two- or even three-year-old Toyota RAVs or Hilux trucks are sometimes nearly as expensive as brand-new examples.

It’s because people know they’re generally super reliable.

So what category does the ‘cheapest car on the internet’ fall under?

YouTuber Driving School TV bought the ‘cheapest car on the internet’ in the UK, which turned out to be a Peugeot 206 CC, the convertible model.

He only paid £595 ($800) but it was in surprisingly good shape for that amount.

It definitely falls under the first category: cars that can get from A to B.

This car will take you from A to B, but still needs fixing.

There are several minor mechanical problems – leaking gaskets, for example – and a few annoying ones when it comes to the interior.

The dashboard is covered in literal inches of dust, and everything from the seats to the steering wheel is worn out like crazy.

But the worst part is the fact this Peugeot used to belong to a smoker, and it shows.

Or rather, it smells.

“It smells like death in here,” the UK YouTuber said.
