It isn’t every day you get called the best possible owner of a car, but that is exactly what this man was dubbed after buying a Porsche Carrera GTS Sally for a remarkable price.
YouTuber Magnacars interviewed Troy, the owner of the sports car, which is a very special one-of-one sports car built in collaboration with Disney Pixar.
As the name suggests, it is effectively the real-life equivalent of Sally Carrera from the Cars films, and she, of course, was a Porsche Carrera sports car.
In the interview, Troy reveals why he wanted the car, as well as why he spent so much money on this unique machine.
This is what the Porsche Carrera GTS Sally really is
The idea behind the real Sally Carrera sports car is quite simple.
As Troy explained, Porsche and Pixar wanted to see what the character would look like as a 992-generation Porsche.
In the films, Sally is a 996-generation sports car.

As a long-time Porsche collector since the 1990s, Troy seized the opportunity to acquire the car.
Little nods to the character from the film are on the car.
There are special badges on the windows, and a Sally motif on the dashboard.
As said in the interview, the car also features a Sally Blue Metallic paint, as well as custom Turbo-twist wheels.

Illuminated door sills also show off the Sally Special name.
Power comes from the same 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine as the standard car, making 473hp.
Why Troy wanted to buy the Sally Special
The Cars films were a big part of Troy’s family life as his kids grew up.
He told Magnacars that it was one of the main reasons for buying the Carrera GTS.
Troy and his wife were also worried the car might be bought by someone who would stuff it into a warehouse.

“My wife and I were concerned, and that sounds like a weird thing to say, but concerned it would be purchased by someone and tucked away in a warehouse,” said Troy.
In that sense, Troy really was the perfect owner for the car.
“The reality was we wanted to see the car, and we wanted other people who loved the franchise to see it,” he added.
Because he drives the car, and allows other people to come and have a look at this one-off Porsche.
RM Sotheby’s sold the car at a charity auction, and Troy really did pay $3.6 million.
It might not be the most outlandish one-off ever made.
But the Porsche Carrera GTS Sally is arguably one of the most special.
It will hold a special place in the hearts of many who are fans of the Cars movies.
