This man has said he will drive his 2013 Honda until it dies in order to avoid something we all do with cars.
A TikToker called Michael shared a video of himself washing his Honda CR-V.
The car has been paid off, and he’s keen to keep hold of it until it can no longer be driven.
He declared he wanted to avoid the alternative – $500 car payments each month.

Why this man is hanging on to his 2013 Honda CR-V
Out of all the expenses that come with owning a car, monthly payments are up there as one of the bigger headaches.
How much you pay depends on what sort of vehicle you own – some of these Cybertruck owners pay $1,000 a month.
Costs like this have to be taken into account, no matter what type of car you own, whether it be a McLaren, a Bugatti, or a Porsche.

And Michael, the owner of a Honda CR-V, is no different.
“Driving a paid off 10-year-old Honda because it costs nothing to run & who wants a $500 per month car payment?” read the caption of his video.
“Had an older CR-V, sold that for a profit, and got another CR-V with that same money, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” he went on to say,
And going by the comments section, it appeared that his approach to cars was shared by many people.

How TikTok reacted to this man’s confession
“My car is 12 years old and I make six figures. I refuse to pay for something I don’t need,” wrote one.
“My Cadillac SRX is 12 years old. 90,000 miles. Looks great. I drive it until its death,” said another, echoing those sentiments:
“Life’s too short, drive what you want,” another commenter said.

“Nothing wrong with driving an awesome 10-year-old car. Our society thinks we should always have new things, not groovy,” commented a fellow TikToker.
So on the whole, the sentiment was largely supportive of Michael’s stance.
Some did note that 10 years wasn’t that old for a car, which is also a fair point.

For example, this Chevy Corvette spent 46 years with its owner, while a Mercedes-Benz 240D was driven for 23 years – and almost 3 million miles.
So Michael’s right, you don’t have to ditch your 2013 car just because it’s not ‘new’ anymore.
