This man flew halfway across the US to buy and drive home a 500hp swapped Porsche 911.
But that’s not the wildest fact, as he actually bought it sight unseen from Facebook.
So, with hopes and dreams, he flew to get the keys and meet the seller before embarking on an awesome adventure.
The car even tackled the Tail of the Dragon and a car festival before being brought all the way back to its new home.

This man made a gamble and flew across the US to buy a Porsche 911 he’d never seen
When it comes to sourcing cars, some drivers get ambitious and think further afield than others.
Forget popping to the local dealer’s lot, this man decided to travel halfway across the US to buy and drive all the way home, a 500hp V8 swapped Porsche 911 unseen on Facebook.

“One day, this car pops up for sale in the swapped pages, and I start looking at my checkboxes, and things weren’t looking good for my bank account,” he explained when documenting his experience on Imgur.
The Porsche was a 997.1, had a blue exterior, a peanut butter interior, a six-speed manual transmission, and a cammed LS3 crate motor, among other perks.
So, he made the gamble and explained that the seller was reasonable; he even showed him his shop with other projects in it.
“It was an awesome introduction to Porsche ownership,” explained the proud new owner.
But then the fun really began as he took it on a wild ride around the Tail of the Dragon, where the car performed well.
“The only hiccup in this whole trip was tossing the AC compressor belt during some aggressive downshifts at the end of one of the runs at ToTD,” he noted.
The new owner and his brother also visited Holley’s LS Fest East, where other car enthusiasts simply couldn’t believe the car.

“My favorite reactions from LS Fest were from people trying to figure out how the swap was done,” he explained.
During the car fest, the owner also got to join Chavis Performance Engineering guys who refined the LS conversion for the 996 and 997.
The LS3 Hot Cam crate motor had 200 miles on it, and the new buyer says that they put an additional 1,500 miles on it with the car just needing an oil change to cut the mufflers off.
The trip was filled with a few more stops before the Porsche made it home with the overjoyed driver.
What did other Porsche fans say about the man’s journey?
“Great album! This looked like an epic trip. Have you given it the beans yet? The 4S/LS sounds like an amazing combo for this chassis,” said one user.
“I was expecting the worst, but congrats, nice build, congratulations on the car, and wonderful trip,” said another user.
“Great story and memories. I one day hope to make a cross-country trip in an enthusiast car. I recently bought a C7 Z06 in Florida, but due to work commitments, had to get the car shipped,” said another.
The Porsche 911 is a car that many gearheads often dream of owning one day.
For example, one man bought a fire-damaged Porsche 911 for under $8,800 and decided to fix it up to sell for a major profit.
Plus, Jay Leno even got sick of his neighbor’s Porsche 911 Speedster being tucked away for 36 years, so he started putting miles on it.
