This man decided to set himself a challenge that no one else was willing to undertake, when he tried to recover a truck in Utah.

Having sat exposed to the elements for many years, the truck looked a lot worse for wear and needed saving desperately.

The recovery mission was set to be no mean feat, and required a whole team to get the job done properly.

Having waited for two decades, this truck was long overdue for a rescue mission, but was it really about to be completed successfully?

This truck was in desperate need of help

Pickup trucks are one of the most useful vehicles around, but like any car or van, they can sometimes end up in sticky situations.

The team over on the Matt’s Off Road Recovery YouTube channel found this out firsthand when they got a call to try and recover an abandoned truck that no one in Utah had managed to retrieve.

“This is going to be a really big job,” said the creator as he got to the site of the truck to really see what the damage was.

It was clear that getting this vehicle was not going to be easy, but armed with a plethora of tools and abilities, it wasn’t a question of if it could be done, but rather when it would be complete.

The first attempt using a tripod trailer proved to be fruitless, with the team having to change angles and positions to effectively recover the truck.

The mission was long and treacherous for the team

From using a drone to winches and even shackles, the team had to think of many different maneuvers to try and carefully shift the truck off the edge of the rocks onto level ground, and use pure force to do so.

Eventually, after hours of effort, the truck was retrieved and dragged onto a trailer, but by this time, night had fallen, making things even more tricky.

Finally, after more than 20 years of being stuck in the same position, the truck was free.

You have to admit, that was one hardcore rescue mission, and next time we break down, we’ll count ourselves lucky that we’re not on the edge of Utah rocks.
