A North American man test drove a Tesla Cybertruck, but despite loving it he still went back to his Chevrolet Silverado EV.

The driver of the truck posted his thoughts on Facebook, and there were plenty of positives to how he felt about it.

However, despite his feelings being positive, there were some things that kept him loyal to his Silverado EV pickup.

One of those was an unexpected limitation that the man simply couldn’t look past.

What the North American loved about the Tesla Cybertruck

The man who drove the car, John Bouwmeester, posted his thoughts on a Canadian EV owner’s Facebook group.

Having checked out a service center in Kelowna, British Columbia, the representatives talked him into a test drive.

Bouwmeester was very impressed by the Cybertruck, stating that in terms of automotive technology, ‘nothing comes close.’

He was also impressed by the full self-driving mode on the truck, even in downtown traffic and at intersections.

Compared to his Chevy Silverado EV, Bouwmeester said that the Tesla was generations ahead of his truck.

Despite feeling so positive about it, the test drive wasn’t enough to swing him towards buying one, though.

The limitation is keeping him loyal to the Silverado

There was one big limitation that kept the man from trading in his Silverado for the Cybertruck.

And that’s the towing capacity of the Tesla, which isn’t up to the standard of the Chevrolet.

Towing can also impact the EV’s range as well, so Bouwmeester said he wouldn’t buy one unless Tesla extended the range by a minimum of 50 percent.

It’s those limitations that prevented Bouwmeester from going ahead to buy a Cybertruck.

Despite that, though, he did leave the test drive more impressed with the truck than he was disappointed.

He had even more praise for the truck, including for the steering, the sub-floor storage box, and the power tonneau cover.

The Cybertruck has proved to be controversial ever since its launch, but it’s clear it can also wow those who drive it.

It could leave this particular Silverado owner with a tough decision in a few months!
