When you think of luxury clothes or bags, you think of brands like Hermès, but what about luxury tech products?
If you’re thinking of a top-of-the-line iPhone, or a fully-specced gaming computer, then you might not be dreaming big enough.
YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss reviewed a number of gadgets that looked like they belonged in a billionaire’s briefcase, in an attempt to find out whether some of these gold-plated devices actually deliver.
Spoiler alert: they weren’t always the best choice.

These luxury tech products get increasingly wilder
Arun from Mrwhosetheboss started off the video testing something relatively tame, a $300 luxury lunch box that steams your food.

If you’re too fancy to use an office microwave, this gets the job done, albeit for several times the cost.
On the bright side, the YouTuber said that the texture of the food was definitely superior to microwaved lunches.
However, he also noted that the lunchbox couldn’t fit a lot of food, making it less useful to anyone that’s not a small eater.
The next luxury tech product was a $759 pen.

The pen is customizable, allowing you to use it as a fountain pen or a rollerball pen, depending on your preference.
However, this feature is not why the pen costs more than a dead Porsche.
What makes this pen special is the fact that it floats; yes, it literally floats.

Using maglev technology (the same technology in bullet trains), your pen can now float, although why you need your pen to float is another question altogether.
Next, he compared a $1,000 power bank from Hermès to a standard $80 version from Anker.
After leaving both to charge two dead smartphones, he checked on their progress.
While the Anker brought the phone to a respectable 69 percent, the Hermès was rather disappointing, only charging the phone to 27 percent in the same amount of time.

Arun voiced his disappointment with the results, saying that he ‘really wanted to love this’.
The Hermès power bank won him over with its sleek looks and its unique physical dial that tells you how much charge it has left, but in terms of function, it turned out to be a dud.

If you want to keep your new iPhone 17 safe from any potential accidents, you probably bought a phone case for it.
But what if you end up buying a phone case that costs more than your phone?

Arun got straight to work comparing the $1,699 phone case with a $10 case from Amazon, doing a drop test for both.
While the phones were not damaged in either tests, the $10 version actually fared better than its more expensive counterpart.
The $10 phone case only suffered very minor damage, while the cosmetic damage to the titanium phone case was more clearly visible.

A pair of headphones that cost more than a Porsche
Of course, the YouTuber saved the most outlandish products for last.
First came the Noir Rainbow Headphones, costing a cool $119,000.
While unpacking the device, he was pretty nervous, which is not surprising considering the production cost for the packaging alone is allegedly €1,500 ($1,740).
The turning rings are made of 14-karat rose gold, and the set has 204 multi-colored sapphires.

Despite their opulence, Arun said he was surprised to say the headphones actually looked ‘tastefully done’.
Having reviewed many luxury tech products that were over-the-top for no apparent good reason, he said with confidence that these headphones actually looked better than their competitors.
So what could possibly top these?
Another pair of headphones, apparently.
The last item on the list were the $139,000 Ice Diamond Headphones, which looked even better than the previous pair.

The rings were made with 14-karat white gold instead, with 456 brilliant cut diamonds.
“If you’ve ever shopped for wedding rings before, you’ll immediately understand why this thing costs so much,” he said.
The best part was that the sound quality was actually good, and noise isolation was also top-notch.
While he said he probably wouldn’t dare to wear these outside the house, he said these headphones were an absolutely amazing product for those with deep pockets.
