Mat Armstrong reveals the $6M Chiron Pur Sport to its owner after finishing rebuild Bugatti said would be impossible before spotting one last thing

Mat Armstrong has finally shown the owner of the $6 million Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport the finished hypercar after months of rebuilding it from a wreck.
The project has been one of Armstrong’s biggest challenges yet, especially after Bugatti said the car couldn’t safely be rebuilt and refused to supply the parts needed.
Now, with the wild body kit fitted and the car looking almost ready for the road, its owner Alex G has finally come face-to-face with it again.
But even after all that work, there was still one last thing to sort out before this Chiron could truly be called finished.

The final stages of the iconic supercar rebuild were every bit as fiddly as the rest of the project.
Before the original owner, Alex, could see the car, Mat Armstrong and his team still had to get the hood sitting properly.
The crash had badly damaged the Chiron’s hood hinges, leaving them so bent that they were rubbing against the front fenders.

Instead of simply ordering replacements, which would have been the easy option if they were available, Bob from the machine shop had to put the original hinges in a vice and start bending, twisting, and cutting them until they could be made to work again.
The YouTuber even pointed out that replacing hood hinges is normally the sensible move after a crash because trying to straighten them can take hours.
This time, however, there wasn’t much choice.

After plenty of adjustments, elongated bolt holes, and some welding, the hood was finally sitting much closer to where it needed to be.
The team could then move on to one of the biggest moments of the entire rebuild – showing Alex what his Chiron looked like now.
And his reaction was pretty much exactly what the team was hoping for.
“Wow,” Alex said as he walked up to the car.
“The videos don’t do it justice.”

The first thing that struck him was just how wide the Chiron looked with its new body kit, and he also immediately noticed the paint, saying that it looked much better than the previous wrap.
Armstrong agreed, pointing out that the car had been painted in just three days and would look even better once it had been fully polished.
The team had also swapped the former bronze accents for silver ones, including details on the engine covers, wing and interior, giving the car a much cleaner look.

The Chiron owner spots one last thing before its return
Alex was clearly impressed, but there was still one rather important part missing from the Chiron: the windshield.
Without it, the car couldn’t properly be finished or driven, so Armstrong began looking into every possible solution.
That even included speaking to a company that makes curved glass for boats and other applications, which said it could potentially manufacture a custom windshield for the hypercar.

The estimated lead time was around 10 to 12 weeks, meaning the team could have quite a wait on its hands.
Alex previously revealed what Bugatti CEO Mate Rimac said to him when he asked him about sourcing a new windshield.
There was also the question of what to do with some of the original damaged parts.
When Armstrong showed Alex the Chiron’s original badge, complete with the scuff from the crash, the owner decided he actually wanted to keep it rather than replace it, because for Alex, the damage had become part of the car’s story.

With the badge fitted, the Bugatti suddenly looked much more complete, and Alex even got involved in fitting it himself.
The team still had to finish the windshield, some remaining trim and a few final details, but the impossible rebuild was finally starting to look like a real, functioning Chiron again.

After everything this car had been through, seeing Alex’s reaction must have made all those hours spent bending, welding, fabricating and improvising parts feel worthwhile.
The next big question is whether the rebuilt Chiron can do what it was designed to do: go seriously fast.
Armstrong has already teased the idea of taking it to top speed once the windshield is fitted, meaning the most terrifying part of this entire rebuild may still be ahead.
