YouTuber Mat Armstrong has paid another visit to a Bugatti dealership.

But he did so for a slightly different reason.

The YouTuber visited the dealership after receiving a $1,700,000 repair figure for a Chiron Pursport.

And he ended up receiving some truly crushing news.

Mat Armstrong received an incredible rebuild offer

YouTube automotive giant Mat Armstrong has just released his latest video.

And it concerns his biggest project yet – restoring a Bugatti Chiron Pursport hypercar.

Mat’s latest video opens with some important background context.

Basically, this Bugatti Chiron Pursport was listed on an online auction.

And it turned out that its original owner actually bought it back for himself.

The Chiron was listed after the owner had been paid out by his insurance company, but the heavily damaged Chiron still managed to sell for $1,600,000.

What is intriguing is that the owner, Alex, has asked Mat to come to Miami and rebuild the Chiron for him.

Bugatti itself quoted Alex $1,700,000 to fix the car.

So it’s fair to say that this is going to be a real challenge.

Welcome to Miami – and one seriously damaged Chiron Pursport

Mat touched down in Miami and went to take a look at the car.

And, to his dismay, it looked even worse in person.

Mat asked Alex why he bought it back in the first place.

Alex explains that the sentimentality of owning it was the motivation.

But the complicated part of all of this is that Bugatti is refusing to sell him parts.

Alex was then contacted by the CEO himself, Mate Rimac.

Rimac explained that he would need to ship the car to France, but that the brand would fix it for him.

Alex, though, wanted the car repaired in Miami, so he refused.

Rimac then made a second offer, offering to completely fix the car for $6-700,000.

Again, Alex refused – and wanted the process completed by Mat.

The Chiron Pursport still runs and drives – but there are a lot of problems with it.

Mat Armstrong faces Bugatti-sized roadblock

The remainder of the video is Mat taking the Chiron apart and analyzing the problem in front of him.

He will likely have to manufacture the parts completely by himself.

Mat was genuinely shocked by the roadblocks he is facing from the manufacturer.

This Chiron Pursport has essentially been blacklisted from receiving parts, leaving Mat amazed by how far Bugatti will go to protect the brand.

But he is thankfully able to find workarounds for some of the repairs, including the airbags.

Potentially fatal news for the project?

The single-biggest issue Mat then faced was the transmission.

It’s possible that it incurred a hairline fracture from the accident, and an examination on the ramp does not deliver good news…at all.

What was thought to be a hairline crack is actually a massive tear.

Both transmission mounts – on both sides – have enormous rips in them.

This meant that Mat and the team had to take the entire engine out of the Chiron.

Mat explains that, at this point, Bugatti deciding it wanted to help would be much appreciated.

We cannot wait for the next instalment of this rebuilding of the Chiron Pursport.
