Matthew McConaughey went for a drive in a new Lincoln Aviator and instantly made it cool.
The Hollywood A-Lister has been partnered with Lincoln for over a decade during which he has appeared in their commercials.
But his latest ad is very understated in a way that only the Interstellar star could pull off.
All you need is McConaughey humming some tunes behind the wheel of the Aviator and you’ve got yourself a winning commercial.

Matthew McConaughey goes for a drive in the Lincoln Aviator
The ad is barely a minute long, but says all it needs to say.
You have McConaughey cruising along in the Aviator, humming and looking pretty satisfied with his vehicle.
There’s country roads, a freight train, and a barn.

As McConaughey takes in the view leaning against the car’s bonnet, a bird squawks in the distance.
This ain’t no city car, it’s one that you can take out on the winding roads of America.
It’s easy to see why this line of marketing might have appealed to McConaughey, who was born in the small town of Uvalde, Texas.
But it has broad appeal, leaning on McConaughey’s cool country guy credentials.
Back in 2014, when he first signed on with Lincoln, he complimented them as a ‘classic, iconic American brand…I like the history, I like that it’s American-made.”

Celebrity endorsements of cars – Hollywood meets the automotive world
This isn’t the first time that the 55-year-old has loaned his name to a commercial for the brand.
Ads featuring the Oscar winner have been making the rounds for years.
Before his most recent showing, McConaughey was last seen in a 2024 Nautilus commercial.
And before that, he was filmed chilling in the trunk of a 2020 Lincoln Aviator.
The Dallas Buyers Club actor has obviously been a hit with consumers, given that he’s been featured for so long.
His commercials have also been rife for parody, with Ellen DeGeneres and Saturday Night Live both gently poking fun them.

But you know what they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
If a brand is associated with a household name, it’s doing well.
Rolex must have gotten the memo, as the brand recently acquired Leonardo DiCaprio as an ambassador.
Who knows which other famous faces might sign on to be spokespeople for brands in the future?
We might see Shaq team up with Tesla, or Kylie Jenner appear for Nissan.
Who’s to say what the future holds?
