The Mercedes-Benz Munich headquarters once doubled as the world’s most eye-watering car advent calendar, and it was every bit as extravagant as it sounds.

Instead of chocolates or tiny toys, this festive countdown revealed full-size vehicles.

Each day brought a new highly-customized G-Class SUV.

For car fans passing by (or scrolling online), Christmas came with locking differentials and leather upholstery.

The holidays were all about honoring the Mercedes-Benz G-Class

Back in December 2021, Mercedes-Benz transformed its Munich branch into a giant advent calendar, stretching an astonishing 145 meters (475 feet) long and 55 meters (180 feet) high.

Every day from December 1 through December 24, a new ‘door’ opened in the massive display window, revealing a one-of-a-kind G-Class model.

Each vehicle featured unique specifications, designs, and equipment, highlighting just how versatile the iconic off-roader can be.

From globe-trotting expedition builds to models inspired by extreme testing environments, no two G-Wagens were alike.

In fact, there’s actually a very good reason why rich people always buy Mercedes-Benz G-Wagons, and it’s not about its looks.

This festive spectacle wasn’t just about physical displays.

Alongside the daily reveals, Mercedes-Benz shared a matching story on social media, diving into real-life adventures the G-Class has experienced during its 42-year history.

Not the first themed advent calendar display

The setting made it even more special.

After all, the Mercedes-Benz Munich headquarters is a landmark on its own.

Located in one of Germany’s most design-forward cities, the building is known for its massive glass façade, which makes it ideal for bold visual displays like this.

For nearly two decades, the Munich branch has hosted themed advent calendars, each year drawing crowds and attention with increasingly creative concepts.

However, this G-Class-focused car advent calendar may have been the most memorable yet.

The G-Class is an icon that has climbed mountains, crossed continents, and now, apparently, it helped count down to Christmas.

For Mercedes-Benz, it was proof that when it comes to holiday spirit, bigger really is better.
