The upcoming Mercedes C-Class electric is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated premium EVs of the decade.
Mercedes-Benz has officially teased the model, revealing that it will debut with a massive next-generation battery pack capable of delivering up to 497 miles of range on a single charge.
That figure puts it well ahead of many rivals in the compact luxury segment, and even challenges some larger EVs on the market.
With the C-Class nameplate already a cornerstone of the brand’s global lineup, the move to electrify it signals a major step in Mercedes’ transition to an all-electric future.

The new C-Class electric will be on the MB.EA platform
Mercedes-Benz teased the new C-Class at the 2025 International Motor Show in Munich, Germany, where it also introduced the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLC EV.
At the heart of the new C-Class electric is the company’s next-gen modular battery platform.
Engineers have focused on boosting energy density while reducing overall weight.
This would give the sedan the ability to stretch nearly 500 miles between charges under Europe’s WLTP test cycle.
The pack will also feature faster charging speeds than today’s EQ models, allowing drivers to recoup significant range in as little as 15 minutes at high-speed DC chargers.
The projected range is designed not only to ease range anxiety, but also to position the C-Class electric as a serious long-distance cruiser.
The German carmaker has confirmed that the car will sit on its upcoming MB.EA platform, built exclusively for EVs.
Though Mercedes hasn’t revealed the final design, teasers suggest the C-Class electric will borrow cues from both the EQE and EQS, while retaining the classic proportions of the C-Class sedan.

Expect a sleek, aerodynamically optimized silhouette, flush door handles, and a new digital face with slim LED lighting.
Inside, the cabin is expected to feature the brand’s latest MBUX infotainment system with AI-driven personalization, and perhaps even the ability to use Microsoft Teams while driving.
A range that is competitive with most popular EVs
A 497-mile rating puts the Mercedes C-Class electric ahead of current competitors such as the BMW i4 and Tesla Model 3, which top out around 350 miles.
It’s about the same range as the new Tesla Model Y L and the Model 3+, which are only available in China.
Even larger EVs, like the Tesla Model S or Lucid Air, will have to contend with Mercedes’ claim.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but industry analysts expect it to slot slightly above the current C-Class, reflecting its advanced battery and tech.

With its combination of luxury, practicality, and record-breaking range, the Mercedes C-Class electric could redefine expectations in the premium EV segment.
The German carmaker plans a full reveal in 2026, with deliveries expected the following year.
