Mercedes AMG’s first fully electric supercar has red exhaust pipes!

The first thing that stands out when you see the VISION AMG is the glowing red exhaust pipes.

Okay, so they aren’t actually real exhausts – obviously, given this is Mercedes‘ first electric supercar.

These are the taillights that are just made to look like giant pipes.

We think they look incredible. And there’s a lot more to like too – check out these brand new pics of the concept car!

AMG cars have always been known for packing brawny, roaring V8 engines.

But the electric revolution is set to change all that for Mercedes, and we’ve finally got a taste of just what it’ll look like.

The design of the Vision AMG

The design reminds us of the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX – its teardrop roofline and silhouette are the most obvious links between the two.

The headlights are super cool as well, with the lights forming Mercedes’ star emblem.

There’s also a light bar linking them, which shows a welcome animation when you go towards the car.

The Vision AMG also has illuminated vertical grille bars up front as a nod to the front grille on traditional AMG models.

Of course, it’s all closed off as an EV doesn’t need a full-sized grille (kind of like it not needing exhaust pipes).

In terms of the Vision AMG as a whole, though, it looks like AMG has Tesla in its sights.

That’s no real surprise given the recent success of the Model S Plaid.

The Vision AMG has a four-door coupé body, positioning it as a potential Tesla-killer.

Whatever makes it to production based off this concept might be what actually takes down the Plaid, though.

The Vision AMG isn’t going into production.

The color scheme and the design of its 22-inch wheels also clearly pay a nod to Lewis Hamilton‘s Mercedes F1 car.

Not everything is just for show, though.

The Vision has the all-new ‘AMG.EA’ platform.

This electric architecture will be the future of AMG’s new electric production cars.

Safe to say, based off this concept, we can’t wait to see what electric AMGs will actually end up hitting the road.
