With multi-billionaire Jeff Bezos at the helm, the amount of money that Amazon makes is truly mind-blowing when broken down by each day.
As a global marketplace and distributor, Amazon has risen to be one of the biggest companies in the world.
Its monopoly as an online marketplace has seen it dwarf the likes of eBay and Etsy, and thanks to services like Prime, it’s now a digital empire with music and streaming spin-offs.
But the amount of money that Amazon makes is truly astounding.

The money that Amazon makes in a day is more than you’ll likely see in a lifetime
Given you can buy anything you can imagine on Amazon, from actual Ford trucks to your household Alexa assistants, it comes as little surprise that the e-commerce site makes billions of dollars year after year.
Or, should we say day upon day?
According to the most recent published annual sales record in 2024, Amazon’s revenue sat at a very pretty $638 billion.
It’s no wonder that Amazon so happily settled a recent lawsuit for $2.5 billion, giving it all back to you, its customers.
But what does that equate to daily?

Chopping that huge figure down into each of the 365 days, the company makes close to $1.67 billion every single day.
If you want that crunching further, its $72,831,050 an hour, and $1,213,851 every second.
That’s more than many people see in their lifetime, flying through the Amazon tills in the blink of an eye.
When it comes to profits, though, Amazon does run with a lot of overheads, such as its extensive delivery courier network, and the margins are much smaller.
Instead, the 2024 report suggested that Amazon made roughly $83 million of pure and raw profit every day.
It’s no wonder Jeff Bezos is so high on the billionaire’s index
As the CEO of Amazon, Jeff Bezos reaps the biggest rewards from the money that Amazon makes.
Despite flipping burgers for $3 an hour at a McDonald’s in Miami a few decades ago, he now hosts Golden Globe nominees like Leonardo DiCaprio on his $500 million private superyacht named Koru.
Although he’s not quite as lucrative as Oracle CEO Larry Ellison – the richest man in the world – Bezos himself is reported to be worth $248.6 billion alone.

The amount of money Amazon makes each day really is remarkable, and with Prime delivery being almost impeccable, it’s no wonder that it has such an iron grip on the e-commerce industry.
