A resident in St Louis hired a snowplow and cleared snow-covered roads for free, in an incredibly helpful act of kindness.
Winter has hit hard in several cities across the US in recent weeks, with snow-covered roads presenting a battle for motorists.
One such area to get more than its fair share of snow was Dogtown in St Louis.
But thankfully, local residents had a hero in Kenneth Harrell, who parted with his own cash to help out.

He hired the snowplow using his own money to help keep people moving
Harrell doesn’t even live in Dogtown, but worked in the area when he was a teen and feels close to the community.
He had initially helped out by hand-shoveling sidewalks with some of his family members and charging for the service.

But after seeing roads blanketed with snow, preventing residents from traveling, he decided to rent a skid-steer with $500 of his own money and ‘just went off clearing streets’.
His kind-hearted actions were quickly spotted by residents and shared on social media, before Harrell was eventually tracked down by KSDK’s 5 On Your Side.
Speaking to the outlet, he explained that he had no intentions of being paid for the work, but he’s happy to accept donations so he can continue.
“People were asking what we were charging,” he said.
“I didn’t really know what to say, so I just said a donation, I guess — whatever you can afford. Let’s just get everybody out and moving around.”
Since his efforts have been shared on social and local media, residents have been reaching out to Harrell directly, asking him and his snowplow to come and help out, and he’s happy to do so.

In fact, he even went as far as to say that he’d gladly work with the city of St Louis to keep roads snow-free.

He’s not the first local hero to step up during bad weather
Herrell isn’t the only hero out there attempting to keep cars safe during extreme weather.
Back in 2020, Austin Owens stepped up to help out a complete stranger when Tropical Storm Cristobel hit Biloxi, Mississippi.
Owens was scrolling through social media when he saw that a Mazda RX-7 had been left in a parking garage that was quickly filling with floodwater.

So, he and his pal jumped into his Ford Bronco and headed to Home Depot, where he grabbed cinder blocks before traveling through flooded roads to get to the Mazda.
At the parking garage, Owens used the blocks to prop the car up so it didn’t get totaled by floodwater, and ultimately saved the iconic Mazda.
