This motorist from New York faced a unique problem — they heard a strange noise coming from under their car hood and eventually faced a unique problem.

Before you start guessing, no — there wasn’t anything wrong with their car’s hardware.

Unusual noises coming from your car’s engine bay can be quite troubling, especially if you’re far from home.

Naturally, you would rush to a mechanic, but this motorist was glad they first checked what the strange noise problem was.

Motorist heard strange noise coming from their car hood

This story is an emotional rollercoaster, but spoiler alert – everything was absolutely fine in the end.

A motorist was just going about their day in Westchester County, New York, when they heard their Kia making an odd sound.

No, it wasn’t an EV trying to sound like a gas-powered car.

Upon a very extensive inspection under the hood, they found that the car was actually fine and they couldn’t see anything wrong with the machinery.

That’s when they saw a tiny kitten cozied up inside the engine bay.

You read that right — a puny animal had made the engine bay its home.

It was likely there in order to find a shelter, but little did it know that wasn’t exactly the right place for it.

It’s not our first time seeing other beings living under a car’s hood, but this was no ordinary situation.

A true hero moment for the police

Fortunately for the kitten and the motorist alike, an Emergency Services Unit (ESU) vehicle arrived to help shortly after the motorist heard the strange noise.

The police unit was probably patrolling on the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Two police offers — P.O. Kraus and P.O. Hinkley now had a mission — to rescue the kitten safely.

Moreover, they did exactly that.

The police officers disassembled the engine partly and were successful in getting their new feline friend out safely.

The Westchester Police Department account on Instagram even shared photos of them rescuing the kitten, and it was nothing short of wholesome.

What’s more, they also ensured that the kitten has a new home — which it does.

Quite aptly, it also has a new name and now goes by ‘Engine.’

Not all heroes wear capes.

In all fairness, always check for a strange noise coming out of your car hood instead of ignoring them.
