This dad was left emotional after seeing a car that looked his old one, only for his daughter to give him the ultimate surprise – the keys.

The heartwarming clip has been making the rounds online, and it’s leaving everybody touched.

It’s nice that cars can people together like that, isn’t it?

The dad-daughter moment that warmed the internet’s heart

In the clip, the family can be seen passing across a restaurant car park, when the dad comments on a car parked nearby.

At the prompting of his family, he is told to get a closer look at the 1973 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

Dad sees a car in a restaurant parking lot that looks like his old one, which he had to sell to support the family. He gets emotional, sharing stories, and then the daughter surprises him by handing him the keys.

Upon closer inspection, he recalled: “This is an automatic. I was a stick.

“Interesting story behind mine. When I bought it, I got it on Friday the 13th December, it was a brand new model.

“I bought it for 72.

“And I was going to take delivery of it about two days later. They called me that afternoon and said ‘We’ve found some bad paint [on the roof] and we want to strip it and repaint it.’

“He calls back later that afternoon and said ‘We’ve found more bad paint, and I think it was back here.’

“He said: ‘Now, what we’d want to do is strip the entire car again, and repaint it.’ That took two weeks.

“And I had it for three years, and there was not a damaged spot on that car after three years.”

As his daughter moved to the back of the car, she beckoned him over – and presented him with keys.

Understandably, he’s confused at first.

But once the realization kicks in, he’s moved and goes in for a hug.

The two then celebrate by taking it out for a ride.

The internet reacts to this touching moment

The delightful clip got people feeling sentimental, and thinking about their own dads.

One person wrote: “What a touching story! He’s a kind soul and his children are very generous. Nice to see this!”

Another commented: “You can see it on his face, that once the engine started up, he was transported back to being a young man for a moment. What a beautiful moment for this family.”

“Man, who thought I’d get all emotional about an old car?” a fellow Reddit user asked.

I think he spoke for the whole internet when he said that.

To be fair, cars can often evoke powerful emotions.

This Canadian millionaire reduced his business partner to tears when he gifted him a Porsche GT4.

Even the cars themselves aren’t exempt from feeling emotions – the Toyota Pod, for example, could feel how its drivers were feeling.
