EV owner reveals electric secrets after driving Mustang Mach-E for months
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is already a record-breaking EV, after setting the world record for the longest single-scharge journey ever.
However, charging anxiety and car range remain the biggest hurdles to overcome for petrolheads to make the greener transition.
Now, YouTube personality Petrol Ped has revealed the secrets behind a happy electric life.
The host claimed that the biggest secret about getting to grips with an EV is knowing how the battery and range actually works, as it can often be decieving.
“I’ve had this car for about two months and I was starting to get really worried about the range of the car because as the weeks went by the predicted range on a full charge was getting lower and lower and lower,” he said.
As to why, well, a mixture of driving habits, depleted battery life, and even cold weather can decrease your range dramatically. But this massive drop-off in two months wasn’t quite as black and white as it may seem.
“It was down to 210 miles and I just couldn’t understand why.”
“But, someone said ‘Have you reset the EV driving history?’ So this morning I went into the main menu, into the charging menu, and pressed reset EV driving history, and the predicted range on a full charge is now 330 miles.”
The range was much more accurate too, having done a 70-mile trip the day prior and seeing the battery only depleted by under a quarter.
He also reiterated other drivers’ views on home charging, which saves significant money rather than using public chargers – which are also not very accessible.
Still, its good to know that there are hacks to keep your EV telling the truth, and that way you can really trust the numbers and tech.
